Q. I’m Australian flying from Australia to UK, changing flights in Ho Chi Minh City and then Hanoi. Do I need a visa for Vietnam? I’m not sure as the flight from HCMC to Hanoi is domestic.

When you arrive in HCMC, you’ll need to clear the customs procedure in order to leave the immigration area for domestic terminal to take the domestic flight to Hanoi. In Hanoi, you’ll then exit Vietnam in order to fly onwards to UK.

If you’re returning to Australia via Hanoi and HCMC, you’ll need a multiple-entry visa – or a second single entry visa if you’re not coming back for more than 3 months.
