How to Apply for Vietnam Visa for UK Citizens?

Whether visiting Vietnam on tourism or business purpose, UK citizens or BNO passport holders have 02 options to get a visa for Vietnam.

1. Apply Vietnam Visa Online (Recommended)

This is called a Vietnam visa on arrival (VOA). It is the easiest way for visitors from UK (including UK citizens and passport holders) who travel to Vietnam by air to get a Vietnam visa.

With VOA, you apply online via website: Vietnamvisaservice by:

Advantages of getting a visa on arrival include:

1. No document required for application;
2. No travel required for application;
3. Urgent processing (2 – 4 working hours for urgent tourist visa and 2 working days for urgent business visa).

Its only limitation is that it is for air travelers only. In case you are not traveling to Vietnam by air, consider applying for the visa by the following option.

2. Apply at Local Vietnam Embassy

Contact the local Vietnam embassy/consulate in the United Kingdom (if you are residing in UK), or in nearby countries (if you are not residing in UK currently) to get visa stamped on your passport prior to going to Vietnam.

To apply for a visa at Vietnam embassy in UK, the UK citizens need to prepare the following documents:

• For tourist visa:
  • Application form (Click to download WORD VERSION or PDF VERSION)
  • Passport must be at least ONE MONTH valid prior to your proposed date of exit from Vietnam (but 6 months validity is highly recommended as the airlines may refuse your boarding);
  • Other documents as required by the embassy.
• For business visa:
  • Application form (Click to download WORD VERSION or PDF VERSION)
  • Passport must be at least ONE MONTH valid prior to your proposed date of exit from Vietnam (but 6 months validity is highly recommended as the airlines may refuse your boarding);
  • Invitation letter;
  • Flight ticket or temporary flight booking;
  • Other documents as required by the embassy.

The application documents can be submitted in person at or by post to the embassy.

• If you want to submit in person, please remember that the opening hours of the embassy are 9:30 – 12:30 Monday to Friday, except public holidays.
• If you want to send them by post, please add a self-addressed envelope (not stamped) with clear FULL ADDRESS of the recipient, including the country name.

The visa processing fees vary according to the type of visa and length of stay, and can be paid either in CASH or by CHEQUE.
