Do Kenya Citizens Need a Visa to Vietnam?

Yes. All Kenyans, living in Kenya or any other country, are REQUIRED to have a valid visa to enter and stay in Vietnam, whether under tourism or business purpose. 

In addition to these visa requirements, to enter Vietnam smoothly, the Kenya passport holders should ensure that:

• Their current Kenya passport is valid for at least 06 months following the arrival date;
• The Kenya passport has at least 02 blank pages left.

There are 02 ways to get a visa to Vietnam for Kenya passport holders: getting a visa at the Vietnam embassy and getting a visa on arrival online.

1. Get Embassy Visa

There is no embassy/consulate of Vietnam in Kenya up to now. 

• If you are in Kenya, you need to contact a Vietnam embassy/consular office in Kenya’s nearby country for visa application. See their list here.
• If you are in a country having an office of embassy/consulate of Vietnam, you can contact them for visa application.

The embassy visa is the single option for Kenyans if they are traveling to Vietnam by cruise, bus or train. In case they are traveling to Vietnam by air, they are highly recommended using a visa on arrival.

2. Get Visa on Arrival (Recommended)

As mentioned above, Visa on arrival (VOA) is the best way to get a visa for Kenyan passport holders who are traveling to Vietnam by air.

With VOA, you will get a visa approval letter via email before departure for Vietnam, and finally, get visa stamped upon arrival at Vietnam airport. The process to get the letter is completely done online with an internet-connected device.
