Do Filipino Citizens Need a Visa to Vietnam?

All Filipino citizens shall NOT need a visa to enter and stay in Vietnam for no more than 21 days. They are required to apply for a Vietnam visa if they plan to stay in Vietnam for over 21 consecutive days. And the following table summarizes the Vietnam visa requirements for citizens of the Philippines.

Additionally, to enter Vietnam, whether under visa exemption or not, Filipino citizens need to meet the entry requirements below:

Filipino passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival date in Vietnam;
Filipino passport has at least 2 blank pages.

How to Apply for Vietnam Visa for Filipino Citizens?

Filipino citizens and passport holders can choose from the following two methods to get a Vietnamese visa if their length of stay in Vietnam is longer than 21 days:

1. Get Visa at Local Vietnam Embassy

The visa for Vietnam this way is issued by the Vietnam embassy/consulate on applicants’ passport before they depart for Vietnam.

To get Vietnam visa this way, the Filipino citizens need to contact the local Vietnam embassy/consulate in the Philippines (if you are residing in the Philippines), or in nearby countries (if you are not residing in the Philippines currently).

2. Get Vietnam Visa Upon Arrival (Recommended)

This Visa on Arrival (VOA) is the best way to get a Vietnam visa for visitors from the Philippines (including Filipino citizens and passport holders) who are traveling to Vietnam by air.

With VOA, you apply online via Vietnamvisaservice by taking these steps:

Fill out the secure online application form, and make payment of service fee.

Receive the visa approval letter by email.

Normally in 2 working days (for tourist visa) or 7 working days (for business visa), attached with Vietnamese application form (also as Entry and Exit Form).

Get visa stamped upon arrival at Vietnam airport.
